A Specialized Diet

Or whatever is in the fridge... Or whatever is being delivered... Or whatever I'd want if I was him, which pretty much translates to meat, meat and more meat...

I know, I know: A low sodium diet along with a balance of a hundred different vitamins & minerals is key to keeping him at optimum performance. Halt! Ain't no optimum performance happening these days and bland, low sodium meals taste like cardboard. Pass. Our goal is happiness & if that means a piece of Papa John's BBQ chicken pizza in the food processor then so be it. Or filet mignon. Or mashed potatoes with gravy & ground beef. Or tortellini with fresh mozzarella... Yes, he LOVES it all.

That being said, I have cooked his food for the last 6 or 7 years. I'm not always a great cook, so his belly is quite hearty. Until this summer I've literally calculated calories, fat, protein, sodium & carbs and broken it all down for every batch of food to keep him at - you guessed it - optimum performance. Those days have long passed. And it's okay.

Btw, Oui yogurt is highly addictive. Definitely the best I've ever had and makes a great snack for both of us to keep the belly bacteria balanced. I'd have never even tried it because I'm a cheapass, but Amazon Fresh did a promo for one penny each! Well played Amazon. Well played.
